Make Any Night a Friday Night
Da Hukilau. Wednesday night was like a Friday night for Sinta and me. The spring weather started early this year, and we took full advantage of it. After work, we drove down to Castro Street in downtown Mountain View for some boba, and we walked around a bit. It was close to dinner time, so we headed to Japantown (FYI: There are only two Japantowns in the U.S. The other one is in San Francisco.) near downtown San Jose.
We ate at the Hukilau. They serve local style food complete with two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. The ambiance gives you that Hawaiian tropical feel, complete with contemporary as well as classic Hawaiian music in the background (if you're lucky, you'll catch a live band), ceiling fans, tiki torches, and a rather warm-colored interior that makes if feel like it's hot and humid outside. We sat next to a window, and I was lucky enough to have some cool breeze blowing in--just like in Hawaii, minus the humidity. All in all, the food was okay. It wasn't bad, either. We're not giving up on it yet--Hawaiian restaurants here are few and far between.
It's On! We should've walked around Japantown after that hearty dinner. "Do you wanna go to the Great Mall?" Sinta asked. I agreed. When we got there, we went straight to Dave & Buster's. We played some basketball. The other four competitors kept us on our toes, but we managed to beat them.
Hitch. Go out and watch Hitch. That's all I have to say. They had me at the first scene. It's not your typical chick flick, and I think guys won't mind watching it. If you watch it with your significant other, you'll remember your first date, your first kiss, and you'll feel giddy all over again. The movie doesn't pick on singles. If anything, it'll give you hope that one day, your Prince Charming will come--with or without a Love Doctor.
Celebrating the Coming of Spring
The weather has been perfect these past few days with temperatures in the high 70s and 80s. I got off work early. We busted out the lawn chairs, and relaxed on the lanai. We are one of only two lucky units here who have a small yard. The others are limited with just a cement porch. We munched on pita bread and hummus, and grapes, and sipped on German Reisling. Perfect. Here's to more warm and lazy afternoons.
